Abstract
536,883. Cushions, buffers. WILLIS, A. P. R., and WILLIAMS, L. F. M. Nov. 25, 1939, Nos. 30800/39 and 11169/40. [Classes 52 (i) and 52 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXXIII and XXIII] A cushioning device for attachment to the rails or bars of chairs, settees; and other articles of furniture comprises a pair of spaced parallel rubber members 1, Figs. 1 and 2, of elongated form encased inrubberized material, canvas &c. connected by a weblike portion 4 constituting the means through which the fastening devices may be passed. The buffer strips 1 may be made of sponge rubber. In Fig. 5 the cushioning device is shown incorporated in a deck chair, and Fig. 6 shows a seat cushion. The rubber buffer strips may be rectangular in cross-section or may be tubular, and may be reinforced by a central metal rod.
