Abstract

713,903. Seats. PUTTOCK, S. E. June 12, 1953 [July 1, 1952; Sept. 18, 1952], Nos. 16532/52 and 23453/52. Class 52(2) The hammock-like seat of a deck or other chair is adapted, when not in use, to be wound on a spring or other biased roller within a protective casing which is attached permanently or detachably to the upper part of the chair frame, a rod in the free end of the seat being adapted when in use, to engage under the lower ends of the frame side members. As shown the seat-canvas 12 is adapted to be wound on a spring-roller 13 mounted on a base 14 provided with a protective casing 18. The end of the canvas is provided with a rod 19 the laterally projecting ends of which may engage under the front ends of the frame when the seating is in the in-use position. The base 14 is attached to the upper part of the chair frame by clips 16 or the like and may also be secured to the frame by screws &c.
