Abstract
708,314. Seats. KING, H. L. Jan. 12, 1953 [Feb. 14, 1952], No. 4013/52. Class 52(2) In chairs &c. in which the seat and back comprises a flexible element anchored at the top of the back-rest frame and at the front of the seat frame the front anchorage comprises a rigid member pivoted transversely of the seat and adapted to provide a supporting surface of considerable width from front to rear. As shown, the front anchorage 7 for the flexible element 8 comprises transversely spaced arcuate members 16 interconnected by laths 17 and hinged by hinges 18 to a cross-member 13 carried by plates 12 adapted to be secured to the chair rails 4. A second cross-member 14 is provided having buffer stops 19 against which the front anchorage may abut. The flexible element 8 may be provided with cushions which may comprise pockets 9, 10 filled with stuffing 11 or rubber having pockets or channels formed in its undersurface may be secured to the flexible element.
