Abstract

894,897. Seats. VAN DER GOOT, A. Dec. 22, 1960, No. 44162/60. Class 52(2). In a chair or like article of furniture including a chair body and a cushion frame 11, the frame 11 has four sides, three of which include recessed fastening members 12, 13 and the fourth of which is secured to the chair body and a cushion 17 is supported by the frame 11 and is covered by a layer of textile, leather or like material 18, whose edges are received within the recesses of the corresponding fastening members 12, 13 and are retained therein by wedging engagement of the edges of a seat section 1 of the chair body with the fastening members 12, 13 and the fourth side of the frame 11 is secured to the chair body by engagement of a plurality of hook-shaped members 10 there-around, the hook shaped members 10 being mounted on the chair body adjacent one edge of the seat section 1. The cushion 17 may be secured to the upper surface of the frame 11 by means of an adhesive. Reinforcing strips 15, 16 are provided on the underside of the frame 11.
