[Class 146 (iii)] A style for fountain pens comprises a pin within a fine-bore tube, the annular space between pin and tube being smaller at the writing end than at the inner end when in writing position. In one form, Fig. 2, the point 12 has a large diameter bore 13 terminating in a short: bore 14 of smaller and uniform diameter, the movable pin 16 having an end portion greater in length but smaller in diameter than the end bore 14. When the pen is inverted a weighted plunger 17 retracts the pin. The end 18 of the pen point may be reduced in outside diameter by a taper or a step for fine writing. The pin may have a reduced end 16b, Fig. 5, connected by a taper 20 to the main part of the pin. In a modification, Fig. 7, the point 21 has a uniform bore 23 while the pin 24 has a tapered part 27 connecting to an enlarged end 26.
