Abstract

533,362. Fountain pens. A. G. PRODUCTS, Ltd., and SMITH. W. E. D. Aug. 10, 1939, No. 23135. [Class 146 (iii)] In a self-filling fountain pen wherein a vacuum is formed behind the piston, the piston-rod acts as a valve and is connected to an apertured cap through a spring so that the valve can be actuated without moving the cap. The piston 5 has a conical passage 4 closed by a valve 7 on the end of the rod 8. Arms 9 connect the piston 5 to a bridge 10 for retracting the piston. The rod 8 passes through a plug 12 and carries a button 15 with a stem 17 and spring 14 engaging a flange 16 on the cap 13, a retaining nut 18 being provided.
