534,998. Variable-pitch propellers. TURNA, R. Jan. 26, 1940, No. 1630. Convention date, Jan. 24, 1939. [Class 114] The blades of a propeller are turned to vary the pitch by a collar 22 keyed to slide on a hub extension 14 driven from the engine shaft, the collar being connected to the blades by rods 32 and cranks 33 on stub shafts to which the blades are removably attached. The collar is slid by a hand-wheel 30 through a yoke 26 engaging the collar. The rods may pass through holes in the hollow hub or they may pass altogether outside the hub which may be formed of a fore and an aft part formed with mating recesses which enclose the stub-shafts of the blades, the extension 14 being integral with or bolted to the fore or outer part and passing through the inner part.
