Abstract

534,783. Cable joints. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., and SAYERS, F. M. Dec. 8, 1939, No. 31765. [Class 38 (i)] A joint casing 2 for a single core cable is made of sheet steel rolled to a cylindrical form with a longitudinal gap 7 which is closed with non- magnetic material. The edges of the gap may be bevelled so that by using an internal former a trough is formed into which brass or hard solder may be run. Alternatively, the edges 9, Fig. 4, of the gap may overlap, a strip 10 of non-magnetic material being welded, brazed or soldered between the edges. Bonding strips 6 are clipped round the cable sheaths 1 and bolted to the ends of the casing 2.
