Abstract

533,791. Ventilators. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and SAINTY, C. L. Aug. 19, 1939. No. 23978. [Class 137] An air discharging device comprises an outlet ring member 7 formed at the rear with a groove 20 into which fits one end of a flexible tube 21 of bellows form, the other end being secured to the wall 1 of the air duct by a flange 4a. The ring 7 is mounted on an arm 8 which passes through a hub 26 spaced by a distance member 28 from a ball 6, the arm 8 extending through the ball, and being provided with a counter-weight 9 at its end. A spring 17 acting on the arm and its attachments presses the ball into contact with a cup 5 supported by arms 4, frictional contact being adjusted by rotation of a threaded knob 10. Manual operation of the knob 10 causes the member 7 to rotate in a casing 22, and direct the air in the desired direction, the tube 21, which is readily deformed, carrying the air from the outlet 3 of the duct to the discharge opening 11.
