Abstract
533,112. Aircraft landing-gear. GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and LEATHER, G. B. Oct. 9, 1939, No. 27535. [Class 4] A steerable alighting-gear for aircraft has a leg with one or more parts fixed against rotation about the leg axis, and one or more parts rotatable for steering, the steerable part being connected with the stationary part by control means partaking also of movements of the leg under landing and shock-absorbing loads. As shown in Fig. 1, the lower member 7 of a telescopic leg is rotatable in a fixed upper part 6 and carries a wheel 10, skid, endless track &c. capable of being steered. Tracking links 12, 13 are pivoted to the lower part of the leg and to a collar 11 which is rotatable on the fixed part 6 and has an arm 18 between which and arms 17 on the part 6 a double-acting jack 19 is pivoted. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the collar 11 has a forked part 24 for engagement by a lever 22 for steering the wheel-carrying part 26. The fixed part 28 has a pivot 27 about which the leg is swung for retraction. When the leg is retracted, the lever 22 becomes disengaged from the forked part 24.
