531,939. Respiratory apparatus. AUERGES, AKT.-GES. Aug. 8, 1939, No. 22909. Conventon date, Aug. 11, 1938. [Class 81 (ii)] A device for controlling the addition of air in lung-controlled oxygen breathing apparatus comprises a diaphragm 7 provided in a space 6 between the lung-controlled oxygen supply valve and a throttle nozzle 5, said diaphragm positively controlling a valve 10 for the admission of air during inhalation. In the construction shown, one apparatus comprises a housing 2 closed on both sides by easy-flexing diaphragms, with a connection 3 for the breathing-hose, the lung-controlled oxygen supply valve being actuated by levers 4. The diaphragm 7 is connected to the valve 10 through a toggle joint 8, the angularity of which can be adjusted by hand, or regulated automatically by a barometric device 12, to vary the amount of admitted air. The throttle nozzle 5 may be constructed as an injector nozzle for sucking in the additional air.
