Abstract
764,111. Respiratory appliances. SVENSKA AKTIEBOLAGET GASACCUMULATOR. Jan. 7, 1955 [Jan. 7, 1954], No. 568/55. Class 81(2) [Also in Group XXIX] An under-water breathing mask is formed as an outer mask 10, enclosing the front of the face and having a single flat window 15, which is provided with an inner mask 22 to fit closely around the nose and mouth and connected directly to the breathing equipment through a tube 21 and connecting piece 16. Small holes 23, 24 are provided in the wall of the inner mask to allow equalization of pressure between the two masks and are so placed that the movement of air into and out of the inner mask during breathing causes a small proportion of air to circulate in the outer mask. A control valve suitable for use with the mask is described with reference to Fig. 3 and comprises a pressure sensitive diaphragm 37, the outer face of which is exposed to the ambient pressure, and which carries the exhalation valve 38 at its centre. This is interconnected by a lever 41 with the inlet valve 40 so that it is impossible for both to be open together. Air is supplied through a connection 44, enclosing a filter 42, and whole assembly is mounted on the face mask by means of a short tubular outlet 30.
