Abstract

447,334. Breathing-apparatus. DAVIS, SIR R.. H., 187, Westminster Bridge Road, London. Nov. 15, 1934, No. 32905. [Class 81 (ii)] In breathing-apparatus comprising a bag 1 having a canister 5 and oxygen cylinder 2 connected thereto, and particularly of the kind wherein breathing to and from the bag takes place through the canister, the canister is of such form, preferably annular, as wholly or partly to enclose the oxygen cylinder. As shown, the cylinder 2 is mounted vertically and the upper closed end extends into a recess in the canister. The cylinder may have a single controlling valve 4 or an additional reducing valve delivering oxygen automatically. The canister has a spigot connection 7, 8, with the bag and is connected to a mouth-piece or mask 11 by a single flexible tube 10, in which case the apparatus is valveless, or by two such tubes controlled by inhaling and exhaling valves. The bag may be of annular shape to enclose wholly or partly the cylinder and the canister.
