[Also in Group XXIX] An oxygen supply valve unit for breathing apparatus has the whole of a valve assembly including an oxygen supply valve 12, an auxiliary valve 31 controlling the valve 12, and a lung pressure controlled element e.g. diaphragm 25 for actuating valve 31, arranged in a two-part housing 1, 2, and a diaphragm 5 for actuating the valve 12 is clamped between the joint forming surfaces of the two-parts and each of the parts has a port 44, 7 respectively for admitting inhalation suction to the diaphragm 25 and for conducting the oxygen from the valve 12 to the apparatus connected at 16. The supply valve slides in a seat 8 and is pressed by a spring 15 through a plate 14 on to the diaphragm 5 which carried a member 18 with an orifice 19. Inhalation at 44 moves the diaphragm 25 downwards and through a compound lever system 38, 42 opens the auxiliary valve to evacuate the oxygen which has passed through the orifice 19 to the chamber above diaphragm 5. The diaphragm 5 is thus lifted against the spring 20 to open the supply valve by the pressure of oxygen from a reducing valve connected at 7.
