[Class 81 (ii)] A hair dryer including an air chest and a plurality of air tubes, having air discharge holes therein, pivotally mounted on the air chest in such a manner that movement of the air tubes about their pivots is adapted to control the supply of air, characterized in that the tubes and their associated valve boxes are formed as integral units which may be individually dismounted from the air chest. The hair dryer comprises a main air chest consisting of a rear metal or other suitable cover 10 and a detachable front plate 11 which may be formed of a moulded synthetic resin. The air tubes 14 with their associated valve boxes 13 are mounted on the plate 11 by means of mounting projections 22 inclined at different angles to the plate. The tubes may be disposed symmetrically on either side of the central tube, as shown, the inclinations of the faces of the mounting projections increasing on either side thereof. The tubes are also progressively decreased in length on either side of the central tube which permits the tubes to be more evenly arranged about the head. The tubes are of flat or oval crosssection, being curved longitudinally and transversely. The air chest is fitted with a conical baffle plate 30 to reduce its volume and to direct the air stream to the ports 31 in the plate 11. To dry the hair at the nape of the neck holes 32 may be provided in the plate 11, those holes which are covered by the baffle being fed through apertures, preferably slits 33, in the baffle.
