531,057. Hose couplings. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. July 11, 1939, No. 20180. Convention date, July 22, 1938. [Class 99 (i)] A sleeve 14 for connecting a hose 10 to a vacuum cleaner is secured to the hose by winding a cord 17 round the hose in a recess between the sleeve and hose by relative rotation of sleeve and hose, the end 16 of the cord being anchored by pressing it into the soft material of the hose. A depression is formed in the hose by the winding tension of the cord. The cord is introduced through an opening 15 and the wound cord forms a key which bears against the abutment 18 of the sleeve. The cord may be impregnated or covered by an adhesive material or it may consist of a soft metal.
