Abstract

530,794. Wireless receiving systems. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. June 19, 1939, No. 17860. Convention date, July 16, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] Interference is suppressed in a receiver by a series connected amplitude-limiting diode 6, and by means for producing a reversed pulse to counteract interelectrode capacity of the diode at high frequencies. As applied to a super-het. television receiver, the second rectifier develops the vision signal across a resistance 3, the D.C. component being blocked by a condenser 4. The diode 6 is biased by potentiometer 14, connected over resistances 22, 23, 15, so that normally the signal is passed to condenser 11, amplifier 10, and vision tube 12. Interference, in excess of normal maximum signal, is stopped by the diode 6 and is applied through condenser 18 to the grid of a valve 13, which thereupon gives a reversed pulse to condenser 11. The bias on the diode 6 is adjusted automatically, in accordance with the general level of the signal by diode 7 and associated load 22 fed with a sample of the signal applied to the tube 12.
