Abstract

505,899. Valve amplifying circuits; television receivers. FAUDELL, C. L., and ATKINSON, N. Nov. 13, 1937, No. 31213. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] In a television receiver the channel which feeds the received signals to a cathode ray tube includes a network which transmits both the A.C. and D.C. components of the signal, but attenuates the D.C. relative to the A.C. components. Fig. 2 (Prov.) shows a television receiver or monitor in which the diede output is applied to an amplifier 8. The decoupling resistance 23 in the anode circuit forms with the load resistance 13 the coupling for direct current to the grid 20 of the cathode ray tube so that if the reactances of the coupling and decoupling condensers 15, 24 are negligible for A.C. the ratio of DC to AC is equal to(R23+R13/R13)(R17/R17+R16). At high frequencies the response is determined by the time constants of the combinations 13, 24 and 15, 17 and for lower frequencies by the combinations 23, 24 and 15, 16. The time constants of 23, 24 and 15, 16 are preferably different from each other. With a leaky grid detector the D.C. component of the signal may be re-inserted as described in Specification 422,906 by making the time constant of the combination long compared with the interval between synchronizing pulses. Fig. 3 (Prov.) shows an anode bend detector with the synchronizing pulses taken from the condenser 43 the output from which is applied to the cathode of the cathode ray tube. With this arrangement the D.C. component is taken through resistance 45 which .may be connected to the junction of resistances 39, 40 or between the damping resistance 38 and resistance 39. Fig. 1 (Comp.) shows an arrangement in which a cathode follower 67 is interposed in the coupling for A.C. signals. D.C. signals also may be applied to the valve 67 in which case resistance 64 is connected across condenser 66 and the coupling condenser 71 is dispensed with. Specifications 422,824, 448,421, 456,450, and 484,218 also are referred to.
