Abstract
530,680. Dyeing hair and furs. ORELUP. J. W. March 10, 1939, No. 7875. Convention date, March 12, 1938. [Classes 2 (iii) and 15 (ii)] A non-toxic acid or substantive dye is applied to hair or furs pre-treated with a condensation product of an alkylene polyamine, e.g. an ethylene, propylene, butylene or amylene polyamine or an N-alkylated derivative thereof, with one or more open-chain higher fatty acids containing from 6 to 20 carbon atoms in the molecule. Specified alkylene polyamines are diethylene triamine, triethylenetetramine and tetraethylenepentamine and their N-alkylated derivatives and specified fatty acids are lauric and myristic acids, coconut fatty acids containing from 12 to 14 carbon atoms in the molecule, and stearic acid. Specified dyes used are Durol black B, Direct fast brown M, Alizarol brown 2R and Direct fast orange G. In an example, hair is treated for about 10 minutes with a 1 per cent. aqueous solution of a condensation product of coconut fatty acids with triethylenetetramine, then for about 15 minutes with a 3 per cent. aqueous solution of Direct fast brown M and rinsed. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of (a) condensation products of the fatty acids with ethylenediamine, (b) polyhydroxylated anthraquinone dyes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
