530,387. Landing aircraft. ARMSTRONG WHITWORTH AIRCRAFT, Ltd., Sir W. G., and LLOYD, J. June 10, 1939, No. 17059. Drawings to Specification. [Class 4] An aeroplane has a tricycle-type of landing gear, the forward wheel or landing element being at a higher level than the rear landing wheels when in the landing position, and the rear wheels or landing members being so disposed that the initial reaction thrust of the landing surface on the rear wheels is just forwardly of the centre of gravity of the machine when landing, the arrangement being such that while receiving the landing shock such reaction thrust is transferred tc be well rearwardly of the centre of gravity of the machine. The apparatus employed is the same as that described in Specifications 530,386 and 530,388, and is abridged in respect of Specification 530,388.
