Abstract
529,079. Regulating compressors. SOC. RATEAU. May 20, 1939, No. 15110. Convention date, May 27, 1938. [Class 8 (i)] [Also in Group XXIX] A single rotary blower 9 is used to supercharge a number of compressors 1 ... 4 supplying a reservoir 13. Fall in the reservoir pressure is transmitted to a contact device 15 which then allows contact to be made, closing a circuit to actuate a switch 25 which closes the current supply to the motor 26 driving the blower. At the same time, a solenoid 18 is energized to raise a piston valve 20 and so open a pipe 22 to atmosphere and allow a valve 24 in the blower byepass to close. If the pressure rises unduly the driving circuit is opened, and also the byepass. On further rise of pressure, the air supplied to distributers 27 acts on pistons 29 to close valves 30 in the compressor intakes.
