Abstract
459,649. Compressors. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. June 11, 1936, No. 16337. Convention date, June 11, 1935. [Class 8 (i)] [See also Group XXIX] A valve assembly for the compressor of a refrigerating machine or the like comprises a plate 18 which forms a head to the compressor cylinder 15, and is perforated with an inlet passage 19, discharge passages 20, and a relief passage 46, the inlet passage 19 being normally closed by the enlarged end 24 of a flexible tongue integral with a thin plate 21 apertured so as not to obstruct the discharge and relief passages, and the relief passage 46 being controlled by a spring- pressed valve. Movement of the flexible tongue inlet valve 24 is limited by a stop on the cylinder, and the valve is operated for unloading by means 41 as described in Specification 459,616. The exhaust valve 26 with retainer 27, controlling the discharge passages 20, which are arranged on the circumference of a circle, is described more fully in Specification 459,648, [Group XXIX].
