Abstract
529,003. Windows. BACHTOLD, M. May 19, 1939, No. 14954. [Class 20 (iii)] A suspension means for the sashes of windows of the folding-leaf type shown in Fig. 2, comprises a right angled strap 11, Fig. 4, which is attached to an upper corner of a sash, e.g., 3, by screws, and has a lug 12, to which is pivotally attached an angle-piece 16, 17 carrying a roller 10, which runs on a track fixed horizontally along the upper edge of the window frame. The lug 12 is bored vertically to two diameters 13, 14, the larger bore 14 being lowermost. A bolt 18 passes through the lug, the head of the bolt being contained in the bore 14 and bearing against the shoulder formed by the two bores 13, 14, and the threaded portion of the bolt engages in a tapped hole in the horizontal part 17 of the angle-piece. The vertical part 16 of the angle-piece carries a pin 15 on which is mounted the roller 10. The bolt 18 allows for vertical adjustment of the sash and acts also as a pivot, the angle-piece 16, 17 turning on the thread of the bolt when the window is opened or closed. Rotation of the bolt 18 is prevented by a cottarpin 19. The vertical adjustment of the window sash is thus prevented from being disturbed accidentally. Such suspension fittings are attached to the sashes at alternate hinge lines. e.g. at the junctions of sashes 2, 3 and 4, 5, Fig. 2.
