486,965. Hinges. ESSMANN, K. F. T. A., and HART, E. E. Dec. 15, 1936, No. 34404. [Class 65 (ii)] A pivot fitting for a window or door, rotating about a vertical axis positioned inwardly of the stiles, consists of two pairs of coacting elements made of wood or other non-metallic material. One of the elements 11 having a frusto-conical surface is housed in a plate 9, and the other which is a cylindrical plug 8 with a frusto-conical recess 12 fits snugly in cylindrical recesses cut in the top or bottom rail of the window or it may be held in place by screws inserted from inside the recess 12. Thin metal washers 13 allow the relative positions of the two elements to be adjusted. The elements may be bushed with wear-resisting material.
