Abstract
527,397. Feeding sheets. PLANETA DRUCKMASCHINENWERK AKT.-GES. April 11, 1939, Nos. 10976 and 10977. Convention dates, Dec. 10, 1938, and Jan. 12, 1939. [Class 100 (i)] In a sheet-feeding device of the kind in which sheets are fed from a feed table 2 to grippers 6 on a rotary carrier, improved means are provided to facilitate rapid withdrawal of the sheets from the table in order to permit of greater time for registration of the sheets. The grippers 6 are mounted' on carriers 7 on a shaft 8, and a sheet guide or press-out member in the form of a drum 11 is mounted eccentrically to the shaft 8, and is driven to rotate with the grippers 6 by means of a crank-pin 13 engaging a slot 14 in the drum 11. The engagement of the drum 11 with the sheet after it has been transferred by the preliminary feed grippers 3 to the grippers 6 causes the sheet to be withdrawn at a quicker speed, and the speed can be adjusted by adjusting the eccentricity of the drum 11. In a modification, Fig. 5, two sets of feed grippers 6, 35 are arranged between the preliminary grippers and the grippers of the impression cylinder, and the sheets may be smoothed by brushes 37, 38, 39 acting on the press-out cylinders 11, 33. and the impression cylinder 4. Air blasts may replace the brushes.
