Abstract
526,909. Fuel-injection pumps ; screw propellers. ENGLESSON, J. E. March 28, 1939, No. 9695. Convention date, March 29, 1938. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIII] An internal combustion engine drives a screw propeller and has a fuel injection pump 1 driven by a cam 4 adjusted axially by a centrifugal governor 6. It is desired to maintain the stroke of the pump constant and when the cam is in this position an arm 19 bridges contacts to light lamps 25, 26 at the manoeuvring position. The pitch of the propellers is adjusted in response to the signal to maintain this condition. With a constant pitch propeller, the drive is effected through a variable speed gear which is adjusted. Alternatively the condition may be maintained by adjusting the loading spring 15 of the governor 6. The above operations may be carried out automatically in response to movements of the arm 19.
