Abstract

526,700. Multitubular steam boilers; steam superheaters. ELLIS, L. S. E. (Oil Well Supply Co.). March 23, 1939, No. 9215. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] In a portable boiler of the locomotive type intended particularly for use in plant for drilling oil wells, the gases pass from a firebox 11 to a smoke-box containing a superheater 30 through shortened smoke-tubes 13, and the superheat is controlled by a damper 16, which, when open, allows part of the gases to escape to the funnel 17 without passing over the superheater. The boiler is supported on skids 18. Pipes connecting the boiler steam space to the superheater and to the steam main are provided with valves which may allow the boiler steam to pass to the main without passing through the superheater.
