Dec. 7, 1926. vertical boilers.-In a boiler having the upper part e of its shell of larger diameter than the lower part a, and vertical fire-tubes g connected to the firebox crown and to a tube-plate h extending to the sides of the shell, the tube-plate is unstayed except by the fire tubes, thus allowing the tubes to expand freely and preventing leaks. Some of the fire tubes are thicker than others and are screwed into the firebox crown and tubeplate. The parts of the shell are secured together by a ring f of ogee section.
