Abstract
525,909. Mixing liquids in flow. CANDY, F. P. March 3, 1939, Nos. 6925 and 8430. [Class 86] Apparatus for adding a proportionate amount of chemical solution to a stream of water comprises a meter operated by the stream and actuating a valve controlling the supply of pressure of medium which effects the addition, the valve being actuated through a relay including a spring falling weight. Figs. 1 and 2 show a form in which the meter spindle 14 is fitted with a cam 13 operating valves 4, 5 in outlets from a tank 1 in which water is maintained at a constant level. The outlets 2, 3 discharge alternately into tip buckets 16, 17 functioning as falling weights and operating the valve 23 controlling the supply of the pressure medium. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the cam 35 on the meter spindle operates catches 33, 34 engaging stops 30, 30a on a valve rod 29. Springs 31, 32 are arranged between the stops 30, 30a and arms 28 on the piston rod 27. In another form the springs are arranged within the valve chamber, while in further forms power is derived from a falling weight which is raised by a rack and pinion, and released by means operated by the meter.
