Abstract
525,702. Cooling towers. HOSKING, O. H. and BRANCZIK, K. W. Feb. 27, 1939, Nos. 6354 and 11564, [the second Provisional Specification being divided out of the first Provisional Specification]. [Class 64 (i)] The flow of air through a cooling tower is augmented by the introduction of a gaseous heat carrier such as flue gases or superheated steam. The tower 1, which may be below ground level, is provided with. a chimney 7, and a supply pipe 9 leads from the boiler flues of a power house 13. The latter may be supplied with ventilating air from outlets 14 in the wall of the tower; and a baffle 17 controls the flow of this air. A superstructure 18 carrying earth 19 may be arranged above the mouth of the tower. A subterranean duct 12 supplies cooling air. An injector or fan may be used to increase the speed of flow of the heating gas.
