Abstract

525,344. Photo cells. FIDES GES. FUR DIE VERWALTUNG UND VERWERTUNG VON GEWERBLICHEN SCHUTZRECHTEN. Feb. 17, 1939, No. 5416. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1938. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] An electron emissive photo cell has a luminescent surface which receives at least a part of the light incident on the cell, its 'consequent illumination causing electron emission from the light sensitive surface. The photo surface 2 may be a coating on the envelope wall ; this surface may be opaque with a window for the incident light or translucent. The luminescent surface 5 may also be a wall coating or be on a shield inside or outside of the envelope. The anode 4 may be of ring or foraminated form ; it may support the luminescent material. The envelope and electrodes may be spherical or double-bell shaped. By using cells or sectors in a cell having differing luminiscent substances responsive to light of differing wave lengths, light analysis may be effected.
