Abstract
525,054. Discharge apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 13, 1939, No. 4686. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1938. [Class 39 (i)] An anode for an electric discharge device consists in a number of carbon plates held in predetermined relationship by metal parts extending between the edge regions of adjacent plates to which they are secured by means located at the edge regions. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the carbon plates 2 are joined by screw or rivets 3 to U-shaped stays 1 of refractory metal, such as molybdenum or tantalum. The lower ends of the stays 1 are connected to a strap 4 encircling the stem 5 of the tube. Two ceramic or other insulating plates 6 are arranged between the stays and support the directly heated cathode 7. In Fig. 3, the anode is a hexagon of carbon plates 8 screwed or riveted to six angle pieces 9 of refractory metal.
