Abstract

524,944. Rotary converters. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO.. Ltd., and WALKER, J. H. Feb. 10, 1939, No. 4465. [Class 35] A converter for generating a high-frequency alternating current from a direct current comprises a single stator and rotor as described in Specification 483,660, the number of the stator slots being equal to twice that of the rotor poles plus or minus one, and the number of pairs of exciting poles being a multiple of the number of phases of the high-frequency current delivered. The stator carries an exciting winding G having, say, six poles and a high-frequency winding F, having a coil on each tooth. The rotor carries a direct-current commutator winding C for driving. The stator may also carry a winding to compensate for armature reaction. Specification 166,259, [Class 35], also is referred to.
