Abstract

524,815. Caps for discharge tubes. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., RICHARDS, J., and WARREN, G. W. Feb. 7, 1939, No. 3983. [Class 38 (i)] A thermionic valve 2 having lead-in wires 7 sealed in a ceramic base 1 that closes the envelope is provided with a metal cap 3 that carries guiding means for locating the valve in its socket and is secured to the valve by means including the deformation of ,a metal part. In the form shown the guiding means consists of a rib 5 on the tube 4 that encloses the sealing-off pip 6. The cap is secured by spinning the edge 10 over the rim of the base 1, or the edge 10 may be extended and spun over a projection 11 on the envelope. Another mode of fixing- involves the use of dummy lead-in wires which are bent over after passing through holes in the cap and may be welded thereto. Specifications 516,110, [Group XL], and 516,169 are referred to.
