Abstract
524,446. Thermionic valves. FIDES GES. FUR DIE VERWALTUNG UND VERWERTUNG VON GEWERBLICHEN SCHUTZRECHTEN. Jan. 27, 1939, No. 2908. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1938. [Class 39 (i)] A valve having two electrodes each of which can function either as anode or as cathode is provided with a single control grid which has an element screening the path of the 'discharge in one direction from its path in the other. In the arrangement shown the electrodes consist of sheet metal cylinders, 3a, 4 acting as anodes, to which are attached metal cylinders 5, 6 with perforated ends forming screens for directly heated cathodes. The cathodes are connected to the corresponding cylinders 3, 4 and heating current passes to them through insulated leads. The grid consists of two discs 11, 12 sealed into the envelope 1 and perforated for the passage of the discharge, the cylinders 5, 6 protruding through openings in the discs, which are close to the cylinders 3a, 4 respectively. The two discs are connected by a longitudinal member 15 which screens one discharge path from the other.
