Abstract
524,305. Grinding screw-threads. LINDNER, H., [trading as Lundner, H.]. Jan. 26, 1939, No. 2745. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1938. [Class 60] In grinding screwthreads by means of a multi-ribbed grinding- wheel of axial length approximately equal to that of the thread to be ground, the wheel s is fed radially into the work 1 to a part, for example, one-third of the full depth of the thread, and the work is given one rotation with relative axial traverse equal to the thread pitch h. The wheel s is then fed into the work and the rotation and axial traverse are reversed, the work again being given one rotation. This process is repeated until the thread is completed. The ribs on the wheel s may have a pitch equal to a multiple of the pitch of the thread, in which case, two or more rotations are given to the work for each traverse. Specification 414,865 is referred to.
