Abstract

391,058. Grinding and polishing metal surfaces. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.- GES., Untert³rkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. Nov. 14, 1932, No. 32197. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1931. [Class 60.] A method of running-in, smoothing, or lapping metal surfaces, more particularly the teeth of toothed wheels, bearings, cylinders, or the like, is characterized by the use of tools made of artificial resin such as phenol resin with or without the addition of woven fabrics or fillers. The method is stated to be particularly satisfactory for toothed wheels having inclined teeth. Where a worm is to be smoothed, a worm wheel of artificial resin or the like is employed as the tool. For operating on a worm wheel, a worm of artificial resin &c. is used.
