Abstract

208,389. Jackson, H. Dec. 27, 1922. Emery and sand cloth and paper. - Water- .proof sand paper, emery cloth, &c. is produced by treating the paper &c. backing, after coating with glue, gelatine, or similar adhesive and before or after the application of the abrasive material, with alum, tannic acid, formaldehyde, one of the bichromates, &c. The backing may be coated on one or both sides with the adhesive and abrasive. The backing may be rendered waterproof, at the same time as the adhesive, by the application thereto of sufficient adhesive to impregnate the backing.
