Abstract
524,034. Fluid-pressure servomotors. LIVESEY, J. J. Jan. 20, 1939, No. 1958. [Class 135] In means for automatically controlling the consistency of a fluid mixture, the mixture is allowed to flow from a constant-level chamber through an adjustable aperture c<SP>1</SP> and pipe C<SP>1</SP> into a receptacle A carried by a pivoted balance arm B weighted at B\ the outlet from the receptacle being bent at A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP> so as to retard the outflow of fluid and cause a variable amount of fluid to be retained in the receptacle according to the variations in consistency. The outlet of fluid at A<SP>2</SP> is directed into two passages e', e<SP>2</SP> leading to a bladed wheel F which operates a valve controlling one of the fluid supplies, the arrangement being such that, when the consistency increases, the greater amount of fluid retained in the receptacle A causes the latter to be depressed, and the fluid to be delivered into the passage e<SP>1</SP>, rotating the wheel F in the direction to reduce the consistency. When the consistency decreases below the desired degree,. the receptacle is raised, and the fluid flows through passage e<SP>2</SP> to rotate the wheel in the reverse direction. The invention is specially applicable for regulating the consistency of stock used in the manufacture of paper &c.
