Abstract

522,975. Wireless receivers. BARRACLOUGH, G. D. Dec. 22, 1938, No. 37239. [Class 40 (v)] In a radio receiver having an automatic frequency control circuit, access to one or more component parts of the chassis requiring adjustment e.g. the push button tuning circuit is obtained through a movable member e.g. an escutcheon plate, which normally prevents access to such parts and which, when thus moved, renders the A.F.C. circuit inoperative. Access to the adjustable elements associated with push buttons 1a, 1b. etc., is obtained through an aperture 3 normally closed by a removable escutcheon plate 4. The latter is held in position on the cabinet by screws 5, which thread in holes 7, 8 in metal brackets 9, 10. When the plate is in position the screw 5 bears against a leaf spring 12 making contact with the chassis so as to maintain the spring out of contact with a terminal 13 connected to the A.F.C. circuit. On removal of the screw 5 the spring 12 makes contact with the terminal 13 and the A.F.C. system is earthed. In a modification the plate is hinged to the cabinet and the A.F.C. system is put out of action by rotating the plate on its hinge.
