Abstract

522,964. Centrifugal pumps. JENNINGS, I. C. Dec. 21, 1938, No. 37185. [Class 110 (i)] In a liquid ring pump of the type described in Specification 458,058, the casing is in two parts 11, 12 connected by bolts 54, and the casing heads 15, 17 are connected to the lower half so that the upper half 12 can be removed without disturbing the heads. The heads carry the port cones 13, 14 which ex-. tend inwards to form hubs for the rotor 10. Removable housings 29, 30 for the shaft bearings are bolted to the heads and embody mechanical seals 34...36 and drainage passages for leakage. Shims 46 between the heads and the lower half of the casing permit longitudinal adjustment of the port members. Shims 55 between the covers 33 and the housings 29, 30 permit adjustment for end play in the rotor. Sealing water is introduced in each end of the pump by pipes 57 to fill the clearances between the rotor and the casing and cones.
