522,308. Screw propellers. TELFER, E. V. Oct. 8, 1938, No. 29211. [Class 114] A screw propeller has on the back or suction face of each blade a streamlined rib or ribs disposed near the boss over the trailing portion of the blade and substantially concentric with the propeller axis. The ribs 10, 11 are of a length to fall within the overlap of the blade by the leading edge of the following blade in the side view. The height of the main rib, which is nearest the boss, is about equal to the blade thickness. The ribs may be integral with the blades or attached thereto, and the surfaces of the propeller may be protected as by means of rubber vulcanizing.
