Abstract
521,758. Balls for games. REACH; M. B. Nov. 25, 1938, Nos. 34345 and 34346. Convention dates, Nov. 30, 1937, and Jan. 14, 1938. [Class 132 (ii)] The body of a ball for games is provided with one or more recessed ribs 1 on its outer surface Figs. 3, 4, against the sides of which.the edges of the covering panels 2 are butted. The body may be formed of rubber or fabric impregnated with rubber or canvas impregnated with rubber and sewn to produce the required shape and the rib which preferably consists of mixed rubber and fibre is inserted in the mould when vulcanizing or otherwise united to the body. The cover is preferably of leather secured to the body by adhesive in a final vulcanizing process. In the example shown the body may have end pieces 5 of rubber and end covers 2a against which the panel cover strips abut. A bladder 4 inflated in any suitable manner may also be provided. The recess in the ribs may be formed by cutting away the material of the rib. Projections to stimulate lacing may be united to the body and the panel cover butted against them.
