Abstract

521,276. Supporting signs. TINNERMAN, A. H. Nov. 10, 1938, No. 32754. Convention date, June 11. [Class 3 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] Means for securing together articles in which a projection formed on, or passed through an aperture in, one article is passed through an aperture in the second article comprises a split ring which is sprung on the projection, the ring having inwardly directed means for gripping the projection and resilient outwardly-directed fingers for engaging behind the rear face of the second article after the projection has been passed therethrough. Fig. 1 shows an article 6, which may be a name-plate, with integral projections 5. Split rings 10 are sprung on to the projections which are gripped by teeth 20 disposed along the edges of the splits. The projections are then passed through apertures in a support or other article 8 so that resilient external tongues 11 on the rings 10 snap into engagement behind its lower face. As shown, the tongues are bowed, but they may be outwardly directed so that their free ends engage the face of part 8. A modification is described in which the ring has a terminal flange resting on the upper face of part 8. Application to a headed stud passed through registering apertures in the two articles is described. Fig. 5 shows a modification having internal struck-up spikes 25 which grip the stud or projection, the resilient tongues being formed by outwardly flared corners 40 adjacent slits in the ring.
