Abstract
520,763. Air locks. DEMAG AKT.-GES. Oct. 31, 1938, No. 31492. Convention date, Nov. 2, 1937. [Class 68 (ii)] The doors of an air or like lock are operated in succession by pressure fluid, the successive operation depending upon difference in the resistance to suction of the doors due to differences of pressure in front of and behind the lock or to other factors such as weights or loads. The doors 4, 5 are operated respectively by double acting pistons 6, 7 in cylinders, the opposite ends of which are connected to one another and to the supply pipes 12, 14. When, for example, the cock 11 is turned to supply pipe 14, door 4 is first closed, since the resistance to its movement is small, and then door 5, which has meanwhile been held on to its seat by air pressure, is opened.
