Abstract

520,496. Lubricating. PATENTVERWERTUNGSGES. HERMES. Oct. 24, 1938, No. 30701. Convention date, July 7. [Class 12 (iii)] A rapidly rotating vertical spindle 5 has a bore 6 containing a filter 7 in the portion immersed in oil in an oil vessel 15. Under centrifugal force the oil rises up the bore 6. Surplus oil flowing out of radial bores 10 and the remainder flows through radial passages 8 and thence through a filter pad 12 to the upper bearing 3. Oil leaving the latter passes through a filter pad 9 to the lower bearing 2. During its flow up the shaft 5 the oil at no time flows towards the shaft axis.
