Abstract
520,140. Detergents. AKTIEBOLAGET PURNOL. Oct. 10, 1938, No. 29340. Convention date, Oct. 9, 1937. [Class 91] A detergent for washing clothes comprise, amylaceous or amylaceous and protein material, alkali weaker than caustic soda, sodium metasilicate, and boric acid insufficient to render the mixture acid. The weak alkali may be sodium bicarbonate or/and calcined soda. There may also be present : diluting agents, especially such as are soluble in water; bleaching or decolorizing agents, e.g. borates, perborates, trisodium phosphate, pyrophosphates, and " activine " which is essentially sodium p-toluene chloroamido-sulphonate ; and an agent adapted to remove calcareous deposits, e.g. sodium phosphate. After washing the clothes may be rinsed in water containing sodium bisulphite or a weak acid, e.g. tartaric. Suitable proportions are 45 lb. of wheat flour, 40 lb. of soda, 10 lb. of boric acid, and 5 lb. of metasilicate; alkali may be added to the solution for use. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a detergent comprising alkali, such vegetable materials, e.g. cerealia, as are or may be made colloidal in presence of a liquid, and a substance which produces a buffer effect in a detergent solution. A weak acid, e.g. boric, may be the buffer substance. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
