519,943. Making kapok yarn. SWOYER, J. D. Oct. 4, 1938, No. 28753. Drawings to Specification. [Class 120 (iii)] Kapok yarn is made from kapok fibre in its natural state by moistening the fibres, passing them through a carding machine in which the .main cylinders are slowed down to about half the usual speed and the workers are speeded up and finally spinning the resultant product under a light tension. The speed of the main cylinders of the carding machine may be about 40-50 revolutions per minute and of the workers about 30 revolutions per minute and the resulting sliver may be formed into a roving and spun on a woollen mule in which the fallers give a tension of about 60 - 75 lbs.
