[Classes 120 (i) and 120 (iii)] In a method of carding for producing slivers of long fibred material, e.g. cellulose wool the flats employed are furnished with two different kinds of clothing in alternate sequeuce. one being the usual clothing having inclined teeth ends exerting the normal carding action and the other having teeth ends directed vertically and exerting a predominantly straightening effect. The normal clothing occurs at intervals at least equal to the length of the longest fibres.
