Abstract

519,432. Dyes. I.G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Sept. 22, 1938, No. 27637. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1937. Addition to 511,692. [Class 2 (iii)] Azodyes are made by diazotising a 2-nitro-1- aminobenzene of the formula and coupling with an aniline of the formula in which Z is any substituent except sulpho and R and R1 stand for alkyl groups which may contain hydroxy and/or sulphonic groups as substituents. The products dye leather redbrown. In an example sodium-2-chloro-6- nitraniline - 4 - sulphonate is diazotised and coupled with N - di - (# - hydroxyethyl) - mchloraniline hydrochloride. Sodium 2 - chloro - 6 - - nitraniline - 4 - sulphonate is prepared by sulphonating 1.2-dichloro-3-nitrobenzene with oleum and reacting the resulting sodium-1.2-dichloro-3-nitrobenzene-5-sulphonate with ammonia.
